ACADEMIC SITE LICENSING is offered by many software vendors, most will enable schools to receive software discounts of up 50% off single copy academic pricing. We feel that all schools should participate in license programs when possible if purchasing multiple copies. Your savings will be huge and will ensure compliance with the software vendor's requirements for installing a program on multiple workstations. Licensing programs do differ in the minimum number of licenses required, the quantity breakdown, and the availability of upgrades and/or maintenance programs. Due to this, we ask that you call us for help planning out your license orders. Here the the guidelines for three common software vendors to help you with preliminary planning.

Their system is based on points. There are two different types of licensing: TLP and CLP. TLP stands for the Transactional Licensing program and CLP stands for the Contractual licensing program.
- In the TLP, minimum of 20 points is needed per order to qualify for license pricing.
- In the CLP, The Adobe Open Options CLP simplifies software administration through a single licensing agreement. You get the benefit of a large-purchase discount, but you have the option to spread your license fees over the duration of the agreement. The program allows you to mix and match products to reach the 1,000 point minimum.
- In both the TLP and the CLP, you can mix and match programs and platforms to reach the minimum. You get a certain number of points for every program.
- You need to purchase the Media CD and the Documentation Set separately.

Microsoft's normal licensing program:
In your first order, a minimum of 5 licenses is needed to qualify for license pricing. After that, reorders can be for as little as one license at a time. Media CD and Documentation Sets must be purchased separately.
Microsoft also has Campus Agreements available:
Campus Agreement (College/University only)- an annual licensing program where schools count the number of faculty and staff full time equivalents (FTE) and multiplies that by a leveled price. Once a school purchases the faculty and staff licensing option, colleges and universities can then also purchase Campus Agreement: Student Option, and license their students by counting the number of students and multiplying by the appropriate price. Schools can charge students whatever price it wants to recover costs. The school then has the rights to run the licensed software for a 12-month period, and is licensed for all upgrades and downgrades of the licensed software throughout the term of the agreement. At the end of the agreement, customer may renew the license agreement, cancel out of the annual subscription mode by purchasing upgrades or remove the software from machines.
Must purchase Faculty and Student Options at the same time.
